The seminar takes place at Fondazione Studio Marangoni, an international school of photography in Florence, Italy. It is part of the assignment on self-portrait, included in the curriculum of the Three-Year Program of Photography. The students are to produce 4 to 6 pinhole self-portraits for their final review, that takes place in late May.
Meets in April and May, final critique on May 20.
This seminar gives a historical and technical overview of pinhole photography, from pinhole cameras built from found boxes and containers, to large format pinhole cameras. The students will build up their own pinhole cameras and will produce film and paper negatives.
As a part of the seminar, students choose their best pinhole photograph to scan and post in the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day website.
