Charlie Ridgway, "New York Central Railroad 69 Street Transfer Bridge"
New York, New York, United States
pinhole photograph

"This derelict structure was used to get railroad freight cars off of barges that had floated them across the Hudson River from New Jersey because freight was not permitted in the rail tunnels. They are starting to stabilize it now with the ultimate goal of modernizing it into a ferry terminal."

"I made the image with a DIY pinhole body cap on a secondhand Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D/Kiss X2 set to aperture priority mode. Dut to the historic nature of the subject the image was captured as B&W and toned sepia before slightly tweaking highlights and shadows and shrinking it down for submission."
